CHRISTUS Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth has earned the top grade for patient safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit organization that evaluates and grades U.S. hospitals on how effectively they protect patients from errors, injuries and preventable harm.
CHRISTUS Southeast Texas – St. Elizabeth received an A grade in Leapfrog’s most recent national hospital safety survey. This is the health system’s third consecutive semester to receive an A grade.
“This achievement is a direct reflection of the culture of safety our Associates and providers uphold every single day,” said Mary Goodwin, director of quality for CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System. “Earning an A three semesters in a row is a huge accomplishment and it represents countless hours of teamwork, diligence and an unwavering commitment to doing what’s best for our patients.”
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade surveys and grades nearly 3,000 general acute care U.S. hospitals. Results are updated each fall and spring and focus on performance measures, including infection rates, complication rates, surgical site infections, medication errors and preventable injuries.
“Our team’s consistency in maintaining the highest safety standards speaks volumes about the excellence happening inside our hospitals,” said Paul Trevino, president and chief executive officer for CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Health System. “Safety and quality are at the heart of our mission to extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ, and this recognition affirms our efforts are making a real difference for the community we serve.”
